Jonah's Surgery Take Two!
So Jonah had to have his adenoids taken out, and the tubes in his ears redone. He just had them put in 7 months ago. Hopefully this will help the little guy feel better. He has had a rough few months. It was pretty minor surgery, but still surgery and kind of scary. It is hard not letting a 16month old eat, or drink anything 10 hours prior to the surgery.
This was taken before his surgery.
He was just walking around checking things out in the room.

This picture was taken after they gave him a "loopy" drug. I have to say it was very creepy seeing you child out of it like that. He had droopy eyes, and would just start laughing at times. The surgery lasted 30 minutes, and he had to have an IV and a breathing tube put in during the surgery. The hardest part I have to say was the recovery time. He had to stay in recovery for 30 minutes. Jeff and I couldn't be back their. He was only about 30 feet away from us, and we could hear him crying, and screaming. It was awful! You could hear in his cry that his throat hurt. For some reason he had to stay back their for the 30 minutes. The whole time we could hear his cries. It broke my heart to not be able to comfort him. You knew he was confused, and in pain, and only strangers in front of him. Then the wheeled him back in this huge hospital bed. He was so small.
This was after they brought him back, and let me hold him. You can tell he was crying by how puffy his eyes were. As soon as I got him in my arms he fell asleep. This whole thing also filled me with such gratitude. I was grateful it was so minor. I think of all those families that have to go through so much worse. When our children are so little they just seem so frail. My friends son was recently in the hospital for a few weeks. One night she heard an 8 month old baby just crying. It was around midnight. After a while she went to find a nurse to see if someone was with the baby. The nurses said the baby didn't have anyone with him, and all the volunteers that come and be with him had gone home. She asked if she could hold him, and they told her no because she was a registered volunteer. Here was this little baby who was sick and all alone in the hospital. I feel truly blessed it was so minor, and we could be their for him. At the same time I pray it works this time, and the little guy starts to feel better.
